I have many years of experience teaching mathematics in mainstream education with an excellent results record for students at all levels. All certificates and qualifications including the GTCS registration certificate are available for inspection at any time. I am able to visit student's home if within a 20 mile radius of Dumfries town centre, or clients can visit my home.
I am a qualified professional Maths tutor in Dumfries providing tuition in the BGE Curriculum, National 3/4/5 and Higher. I have recently tutored students studying at a variety of levels from across the Dumfries area. As a qualified teacher with full GTCS registration, I have many years classroom experience as well as providing one-to-one tuition.
Throughout my time working with young people in education I have developed a patient, friendly and understanding manner. I aim for a relaxed, comfortable and efficient method of tuition and I work hard to develop a rapport with my students, allowing me to make the tutorials interesting and fun rather than an unwelcome extra class lesson. With an extensive knowledge of the curriculum I am able to guide students through their courses, addressing problem areas and building confidence. Through discussion with my students and their parents or carers, I set appropriate targets which are both achievable and challenging. As each student has different areas of strength and weakness in Maths, I tailor my tutoring sessions to best meet their needs and learning styles. Homework is also provided to allow them to consolidate their knowledge between sessions.
